Understaning MAC foundation and concealer shade numbers

Everyone is confused to pick foundation from NC or NW from M.A.C's range. But, What is the difference?

We all know from all other brands that C stands for cool tones and W stands for warm tones and N stands for neutral tones. Meaning that the foundation you are picking is for cool toned skin or a warm toned skin.

With M.A.C is different. Let me explain.

NC: means cool toned as I have mentioned.
But in our terms, it is Not for a cool toned complexion. Its a cool toned and blue toned foundation. So this foundation is meant to neutralize the warmth in your skin tone by using cool foundation :)

NW: means warm toned as I have mentioned.
But in our terms, it is Not for a warm toned complexion. Its a warm toned and red toned foundation. So this foundation is meant to neutralize the coolness in your skin tone by using warm foundation :)

Capice?! :)

Now, how can you determine if you are a cool tone or a warm tone? Easy

Look at your arm wrist. If your veins are blue, then you are cool toned. If your veins are green then you are warm toned :)

  2. NW is not blue toned, its red toned and that's why cooler shades and blue toned ppl should use it to counteract the coolness in their skin and neutralize. Always remember red is the opposite of blue. Always use one against the other to neutralize :)
